Couple of days back Airtel released a mobile app allowing customers to manage various Airtel services which included their mobile, DTH as well as internet services. This app was released on all mobile platforms making sure that all Airtel customers could use it irrespective of their mobile phone OS.
Airtel has gone ahead and released an excellent infographic that reveals the reason behind releasing these apps – The rise of Smartphones in India (which is kind of obvious now). However, the infographic does put across some very interesting numbers.
One statistics is that the use of mobile web has nearly doubled in last one year – From 70 million to 132 million. Here is another interesting one – 77% of Indians have nearly 30 mobile apps installed on their phone. Music and Social Networking are the 2 categories which rule Indian users’ mobile phone apps. Checkout Airtel’s Infographic for more such numbers.
